Working with Cognizant, I, Christopher Cooke, and Chuyi Chen faced the prompt
"How can we use digital to better enable the sustainability of
physical packaged goods in the beverage industry?"
After researching, developing, and testing, I believe we have created a product and an experience which does just that - leverages technology to support sustainability - all while creating a seamless and joyful user experience.
Phase 1 : Framing the Problem
Our prompt was clear - use technology to enable sustainability in the beverage industry. Though, we still had questions. What is beverage packaging, exactly? What does beverage packaging look like currently? How does current beverage packaging impact user's experiences? What does the beverage packaging industry look like - what are its norms, and what's cutting edge? To address the questions,
Initially, we broke down the beverage packaging industry into 3 three broad areas of consumer interaction. Within these three areas, we conducted interviews, observed users in their environments, and reviewed current relevant literature.
Based on our research, we then created broad journey maps and developed insights.
Phase 2: Ideation and Concepting
With research to drive our designs, we began the ideation and concepting phase. Each of these concepts addresses different pain points in the 3 initial user journey maps.
After the creation of an aspirational journey map and 12 distinct concepts, we ultimately chose to develop concept 2 further.
Phase 3: User Testing
Based on our concept, we created a low fidelity prototype and conducted user testing.
Phase 4: Final Design
After implementing improvements in the final design driven by the user-testing data, we created our final design.
